In April of 1991 the Postal Service changed the way their automation equipment scanned mail pieces for bar code. By scanning the entire face of the envelope they are now able to use the POSTNET bar code when printed above or below the address block as well as the lower right hand corner.
See the Additional info... screens, under the Apple menu, for the maximum and minimum sizes a mail piece must conform to in order to fit through the automation equipment.
Wide-area Bar Code preferences are available under the Templates menu, Options.... Selecting Above address block or Below address block will allow you to print the bar code on labels for wide-area bar coding.
Wide-area Bar Code is a print preference. The information is not saved in the template information.
